I had a debrief with the UK Director last week where we looked back over the two years of work in Japan. We talked about a few areas of working with the Japanese church, and some areas where I consider the Christian culture in Japan to be somewhat Pharisaical. And then John said something rather like "At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether you agree with them theologically or not, that's the situation and you have to deal with it."

I was just writing an email to a prayer supporter back home, and I started rambling, and the place for rambling is on the blog, not in email, so I moved everything here, and sent back a mercifully shorter email.

This weekend I've been at the first Japanese House Church Conference. It was quite an amazing and enjoyable event; I felt spiritually refreshed and privileged to be there. It was great to hear many stories from people around Japan who are seeing God do fantastic things through the house churches, to hear the problems they're facing and what they're doing about it.

In case you hadn't gathered, yesterday I wasn't all that impressed with CPI at the end of the day. Today, everything has changed.
